5 Hacks to Get Your Shit Together During Covid-19
It's okay, we've all had at least one melt down due to Covid-19, mostly when the nightly news is going, ScoMo comes up on Facebook Live or we see how many tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs because or died of a fucking virus.
So what can we do about it? The answer is simple - Stay The Fuck At Home and try these 5 hacks to avoid loosing your shit during Covid-19.
1. Brain Breaks
When you feel that panic attack coming its best to give your brain a break. It can be a helpful way of deactivating the acute stress (‘fight or flight’) response . So put your phone down, turn the TV off and take in 3 deep and slow breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. When you slow your breathing rate down the uncomfortable physical sensations of fear and anxiety start to subside.
2. Move That Body
Make sure you get your 30 minutes of exercise a day. Need some suggestions ? There are thousands of videos online to help you get your body moving from HIT circuits to belly dancing. Plus exercise is proven to improve your mood and mental health, decrease stress, increase self esteem and helps your get a better sleep.
3. Connect.
Hey Girl Hey! We all need connection. So pick up the phone and call your best mate, your grandparents or even your local cafe to order a coffee - it all counts! If phone calls aren't cutting it try video calls. According to Beyond Blue "we communicate best when we can see each other’s body language and facial expressions" so get dialing!
4. Sleep.
We all know that we feel better after a long sleep so after you take that brain break, take your favorite book to bed with you and leave the technology outside the bedroom .
5. Contribute, Share and Support.
Feel like you're making a contribution to this crazy time and support those who are doing it tough. This can all be done from the comfort of your couch. Some ideas are purchasing a local bands merch, purchase that item you've had in your etsy basket all month long, order a coffee from your local or even sharing a post from a local business (which costs you $0!). You'll feel good and support others while doing it.
Note. Keep theses up! You don't need to do them all every day but choose which ones work for you and keep them up to make your very own at home feel good routine.
